Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G2 Review
The following is a review of a 16GB Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G2 USB Flash Drive (provided courtesy of Kingston Technology Corporation). Kingston’s DTLocker+ G2 uniquely features automatic personal security which works by password protecting data stored on the device via dual layer hardware encryption. This USB Flash Drive and the Encryption works in both Windows and Mac OS X operating environments.

Two drive letters are created upon inserting the Locker+ G2 USB Flash Drive. To use the USB device, a user simply sets a password via DTLplus_Launcher.exe. A second drive letter is then prepared for encrypted use. Now, whenever the USB Flash Drive is inserted into any computer, the password must be entered by launching the application on the first drive letter to enable access to the second drive letter.

Aside from data protection, this USB Flash Drive features a bright blue LED used to inform you of access/communication, and a metal casing that feels much more durable and solid than cheaper drives utilizing a plastic housing.
Compatible with USB Bootable Linux?:
Unfortunately, due to the encryption of the data portion of this USB drive, we were not able to run YUMI on this device “out of the box”.
Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G2 Conclusion:
Although not the fastest USB Flash drive available, and not natively compatible for USB Booting (out of the box), the Kingston DataTraveler Locker+ G2 drive is an excellent choice for anyone who is looking to prevent their precious data from being viewed by prying eyes.
